BLACK COUNTRY WOMEN  BE INSPIRED ... the heritage lives on

Times have changed and most of the women of today do not, fortunately, have to physically labour during the daylight hours while taking care of a family and home. In the 1800's, the work would have been hard, heavy and industrial, making nails, chain and bricks.

Since then the many battles for the vote, equal pay, education and social status have all been hard fought and well won for future generations of females to begin to benefit from.

There have always been women of note, who were and are outstanding for their community, employment, education, social activities and charitable work, and we are pleased to be able to highlight some of those whose hometown and background is linked to the Black Country.

This is not a definitive list and will be expanded with more names and links.
