Galton Valley & Smethwick Summit

Meet at Brasshouse Lane, above canal bridge B66 1BA
It has been a long time since we visited Galton Valley, a place in which canal history can be seen in the works of three leading canal engineers, James Brindley, John Smeeton and Thomas Telford.
Unfortunately due to the cutbacks made by Sandwell Council there will be a charge made for this walk.

This is the annual walk with the Industrial Archaeological Group. For this year's walk we are m,eeting at the same place we met last year and walking in the opposite direction.

Around Churchill

A look at Churchil Forge, then following the stream to visit the Church for a guided tour and if time permits, we can walk into Blakedown for a look at the Railway Signal Box which has been save by volunteers and now used for meetings.
Meet Churchill Lane below Churchill cross roads DY10 3LX. There is a short walk along the track to the forge, but parking is available at the Church and Signal Box. The could be a walk that less mobile members would be able to attend.

The World of Glass, St, Helen's

Join us for a day out on a coach visit to 'The World of Glass' in St. Helen's. The coach leaves from Ednam Road (by bus stop), Dudley at 8.30am and returns back at about 5.30/6pm.
This will be an exclusive visit with our own host/guide. It includes tea/coffee on arrival and Lunch.
All for the inclusive price of just £27.00

Walks are restricted to members only to enable participants to hear the leader's commentary and maintain safety. Sensible footwear is advised. Every effort is made to ensure that the distance can be covered within a maximum of 2 hours, but every walk is different and each leader has his/her style of walking and talking.
