Welcome to the Black Country Society blog. We will post here on a variety of topics of interest to Society members. A (moderated) comment facility is available so readers can share their own thoughts on the topics that are posted. Posts will be in five categories in the first instance.
“Blast from the Past” - a monthly feature showcasing articles from the Blackcountryman magazine archive. This is a fantastic online resource which can be accessed by all members of the Black Country Society using the password on the first page of the magazine. Over 50 years’ worth of the Blackcountryman containing some 3,500 articles are available online and we are currently working hard to update the searchable index.
"The lighter side" - stories and humour from the Black Country
"People and heritage" - short posts on the people and history of the area
"Society events" - Brief reports on Society meetings, walks and other events.
"The Blackcountryman conversation" - a quarterly series of posts of the magazine contents list that will enable members to posts comments on the articles
We would love to hear your ideas and material for future blog posts in all these categories. Please do get in touch with us using the webmaster contact form on the contact page.
